What is RADIUS accounting stop?

Aruba Employee

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS versions.

When RADIUS accounting is configured, the switch sends an acct start packet (Accounting Start packet) when the user is RADIUS authenticated. The point to be noted here is, Aruba sends an acct stop packet (Accounting Stop packet) only when the L3 entry (user table entry) is removed.

Typically, one of two things will happen. Either the user will do a proper disconnection and will be accounted for the proper time duration he was authenticated, or the user will be removed after his idle time expires and will be accounted for what ever time he was in the network plus the idle time out value.
