Questions: What is one known issue the Aruba AP has with Apple 802.1x?
Product and Software: This article applies to all Macintosh laptops, Aruba controllers, and ArubaOS versions.
The Apple dot1x driver tries to go through 802.1x authentication at the highest possible supported rate. For example, if an AP supports up to 54 mbps rates, the Apple driver tries to negotiate 802.1x authentication at that rate, even though the AP is very far away. Therefore, authentication takes a long time.
To alleviate this problem, the customer can take out several of the high rates (keep maximum at 36 mbps). The overall situation will improve.
