Product and Software:
This article applies to all Aruba AP and it's version
Aruba AP (s) has
certain
step to discover the Master controller however there is a basic difference between Aruba AP and Aruba RAP.
AP: Access Points (Deployed in local LAN network or contacting the controller over private WAN i.e Frame Relay, MPLs etc.)
RAP: Remote Access Point (Deployed over unsecured WAN i.e Internet)
On boot, AP will use some discovery mechanism
1.
Static
(setenv master <controller IP>)
2.
DHCP
Option 43 (Controller IP) and Option 60 Vendor Specific Attribute (ArubaAP)
3.
ADP Broadcast
(255.255.255.255)
4.
ADP Multicast
(239.0.82.11)
5.
DNS
A Record "aruba-master.domain.com") to find a controller to get code/config from.
However RAP does not support ADP/DNS (aruba-master)/DHCP (option 43) based discovery of controller because RAP must be provisioned statically with controller's ip-address or FQDN.
