What is the difference between "outdoor" and "indoor" mesh radios in ArubaOS 3.4.x?

Product and Software: This article applies to all mesh-capable access points and ArubaOS 3.4.x.x and later.

When you install AP mesh portals and points, you must select whether the radio will be used for indoor or outdoor use.

  • Outdoor use only, in the 5GHz spectrum: Channels 52, 56, 60, 64, 100, 104, 108, 112, 116, 120, 124, 128, 132, 136, 140, 149, 153, 157, 161, and 165.
  • Indoor use only: Channels 36, 40, 44, and 48.
  • North America use only: Channels 149, 153, 157, 161, and 165.
  • The middle channels must support DFS awareness.
