What is the purpose of beacon regulation and how do I enable it?

Jul 05, 2014 05:28 AM

Product and Software: This article applies to all Aruba controllers and ArubaOS 3.3.x and later.

In dense deployments or deployments where a reduced number of channels are available, the risk of beacon trampling is increased. Beacon trampling occurs when multiple APs broadcast their beacons sets simultaneously.

Beacon regulate addressed this problem by centralising the timing for beacons.

To enable beacon regulation though the CLI, issue these commands:

<host> (config) #rf dot11a-radio-profile <profile-name> beacon-regulate
<host> (config) #rf dot11g-radio-profile <profile-name> beacon-regulate

To enable beacon regulation through the WebUI, follow these steps:

1) Navigate to Configuration > Advanced Services > RF
Management
> 802.11a or 802.11g Radio Profile > <profile name>.

2) Check the Beacon Regulate check box.
