Customize 802.11 rates on IAP
Q:

How to customize 802.11 rates on IAP?

A:

IAP has been supporting all 802.11 modulation rates by default, including legacy rates set, HT MCS rates set and VHT MCS rates set. There were no interface for customers to disable any modulation, as needed which might cause inconvenience when deploying IAPs. In 4.2.1, CLI interface provides option to customize the 802.11 rates as needed and this configuration is only supported on wlan-ssid-profile.

Four new commands about the legacy mode rate setting are added to the wlan-ssid-profile.

  • a-basic-rates 6,9,12,18,24,36,48,54

             (default 6, 12, 24)

  • a-tx-rates 6,9,12,18,24,36,48,54

             (default supporting all rates)

  • g-basic-rates 1,2,5,6,9,11,12,18,24,36,48,54

            (default 1, 2)

  • g-tx-rates 1,2,5,6,9,11,12,18,24,36,48,54

            (default supporting all rates)

CLI Configuration:

IAP (config) # wlan ssid-profile test

IAP (SSID Profile "test") # a-basic-rates 6 9 12 18

IAP (SSID Profile "test") # a-tx-rates 36 48 54

IAP (SSID Profile "test") # g-basic-rates 2 9 11 18 36

IAP (SSID Profile "test") # g-tx-rates 6 12 48 54

IAP (SSID Profile "test") # supported-mcs-set 1,3,6,7,12

IAP (SSID Profile "test") # vht-support-mcs-map “7, 8, 9”

When will the ability to modify these options surface to the Airwave Instant Config GUI?

Even if we were able to enter the options via a CLI window in Airwave which would get pushed to the IAP cluster would be a huge advancement.  At the moment, if a Cluster is manage by Airwave, the ability to disable g-basic-rates via CLI is not posible.
