Controller-less WLANs

For RADIUS integration, should I add all Aruba Instant APs (IAPs) in cluster or is it enough to add the master AP? Do other APs send authentication requests directly to the RADIUS server or through the master IAP?

If you set a static IP address on the virtual controller, the address becomes virtualized. If the primary virtual controller fails, the IP address is transferred (similar to VRRP) to the AP that becomes the new master. An automatic election process selects the new master.

If you then enable Proxy RADIUS, all authentication requests are sent from the virtual controller management address. This is highly beneficial because only a single NAS entry must be created on RADIUS to cover the whole Instant cluster of up to 16 IAPs.
