How do I configure 802.1x with MAC authentication on the same SSID in Aruba Instant?

Jul 02, 2014 08:14 PM

Product and Software: This article applies to Aruba Instant 3.2

Points to remember:

  • MAC-auth always occurs before dot1x authentication
  • If MAC-auth fail-thru is disabled, client should pass both MAC-auth and dot1x.

NOTE: Dot1x is only attempted if MAC-auth passes.

  • If MAC-auth fail-thru is enabled: client should pass either MAC-auth or dot1x.

NOTE: Dot1x is only used if MAC-auth fails; if MAC-auth succeeds clients get MAC-auth-only role.
