How to Configure Per-AP SSID and Per-AP-VLAN Settings On a Wireless Profile on IAP

Requirement:

Configuring Per-AP SSID and Per-AP-VLAN Settings On a Wireless Profile

Solution:

Starting from 6.4.4.4-4.2.3.0, we support each IAP to broadcast its own ESSID & its own client VLAN to be configured respectively. We define two variables ‘per_ap_ssid’ and ‘per_ap_vlan’. The two variables can be set in apboot or via CLI command per AP.

Scenario example:

IAP's in a cluster are located at different classrooms A,B,C. Each classroom needs its own one unique ESSID, “class_A”, “class_B”, “class_C” and isolate broadcast/multicast domain across IAP's with different client vlan.

In above scenario, in order to avoid exceeding 16 SSID profiles  limitation in configuration, we can use these two per AP variables.

Configuration:
* Configure specifically on each AP which needs to broadcast the unique SSID

             18:64:72:c9:c4:9c# per-ap-ssid test-master
             18:64:72:c9:c4:9c# per-ap-vlan 100

* Configure only on VC, in the SSID-Profile

            18:64:72:c9:c4:9c (SSID Profile "test-ssid") # essid $per-ap-ssid
            18:64:72:c9:c4:9c (SSID Profile "test-ssid") # vlan $per-ap-vlan
            18:64:72:c9:c4:9c (SSID Profile "test-ssid") # exit
            18:64:72:c9:c4:9c (config) # exit
            18:64:72:c9:c4:9c# commit apply
            committing configuration...
            configuration committed.
            18:64:72:c9:c4:9c#

Verification

After configuring, validate the configuration by using the below show command

18:64:72:c9:c4:9c# show ap-env
