Q:

On Aruba Central, how do I see top clients and access points in relation to bandwidth usage?

A:

Wireless is a shared medium and every client need to get an opportunity to transfer the data on the medium. Wireless administrators, need to tune the system in order to avoid certain clients using the medium heavily leaving no room for lower speed or legacy clients. To understand such bandwidth usage characteristics, a daily or periodic report would come in handy.

Reporting is a integral part of Aruba Central. It would help administrators with network, security and PCI compliance reports. They can be generated on demand or schedule it to run for later. It is best practice to run daily reports on the system in non-peak hours after the day. This helps to monitor and take pro-active steps to avoid any future down time.

With regards to the specific requirement in this article, we can run network reports that would help us with the top clients or access points that are heavily using the wireless bandwidth.

Below example show how to schedule to run a daily report at 12:00 AM on selected groups:

NOTE: One can select the option "Email Report" and Aruba Central would send you a PDF copy of the report once it is generated. Moreover, these reports would be saved in the account and one can download anytime logging into the central account.
