Q:

Temporal Diversity and Maximum Retries using CLI

A:

When clients are not responding to 802.11 packets, IAPs can attempt only 2 hardware retries. Starting Instant 6.5.0.0-4.3.0.0, a new parameter called Temporal Diversity(disabled by default) is introduced to attempt more number of retries. When this knob is enabled, IAPs can additionally perform software retires after 2 failed attempts of hardware retries. The max-retries parameter indicates the maximum number of software attempts the IAP performs when clients are not responding to 802.11 packets. By default, the IAP attempts a maximum of eight retries when clients are not responding to 802.11 packets with temporal diversity enabled.

Configuration is only supported from CLI and can be configured under SSID profile.

(Instant AP) (config) # wlan ssid-profile Name
(Instant AP) (SSID Profile "Name") # temporal-diversity
(Instant AP) (SSID Profile "Name") # max-retries 3
(Instant AP) (SSID Profile "Name") # end
(Instant AP) # commit apply
