What are requirements to form IAP cluster when there are mixed set of IAP models? |
Environment |
|
This articles applies to all Aruba Instant Access Point running any version of InstantOS. |
Instant APs are generally deployed in a clustes. They are deployed either as a homogenous cluster (where all the IAP's are of same class) or mixed cluster with different classes.
The IAP models are basically divided into four classes based on their hardware and capability. Below are the classes and respective Instant AP models:
Aries: RAP-155, RAP-155P
Cassiopeia: IAP-134, IAP-135
Orion: IAP-92, IAP-93, IAP-105, IAP-175, RAP-3WN, RAP-3WNP
Pegasus: RAP-108, RAP-109
In a cluster of mixed IAP cluster, following requirements need to be considered:
- All Instant APs participating in the mixed cluster should run the same firmware. So, upgrade all the IAP's of different classes to a simillar InstantOS version before forming a cluster.

All the Instant APs, including the Virtual Controller (VC) should be configurable to run on a common Country Code (CC). All the Instant APs, should be of country code US (United Stated) or IL IIsrael) or JP (Japan) orRoW (Rest of World)
