Why do i see an asterisk symbol beside an AP name under access point banner?

Environment : Product and Software: This article applies to all IAPs, running IAP firmware version 4.1.0.0 and above.

 

Answer :

 

In earlier  release, i.e. prior 4.1.0.0, if an user would like to know which one of the IAP has taken the role of Virtual Controller(VC) in a cluster, he will have to goto More->Support  and drop down "Target", which will show the access point that is acting as VC.

Starting 4.1.0.0, VC can be easily found in a cluster from Access Point banner, as the symbol "asterisk" would be marked beside the AP name as shown below.
