Will an Instant Virtual Controller (VC) downgrade a new AP?

Jun 08, 2015 12:12 PM

Q:

Will an Instant Virtual Controller (VC) downgrade a new AP?

A:

If a new AP is added to an existing IAP cluster and the new AP is running a higher version than the cluster, the VC will attempt to downgrade the new AP, and it will succeed in downgrading the new AP if the following conditions are met:

  1. The version running on the VC meets the minimum version requirement of the new AP
  2. The new AP is of the same image class as the VC, or the image for the new AP class matching the version running on the VC is available from Activate.

An IAP does not have capacity to store image for other model classes therefore images must be fetched from Activate.
