Controllerless Networks

I have inherited an Aruba VC wireless network based on AP-105 hardware. We have an Aruba S2500 PoE switch alongside the 15 AP-105 units.

Is my Aruba wireless network as up-to-date as possible? Is there a new ArubaOS I should be running? How do I procure and upgrade to a new ArubaOS?

Hey, the hardware you have is an Aruba Instant AP105, the latest available software release for this is 6.4.4.8-4.2.4.8.

You can download the latest firmware from the below

Or from within the Virtual Controller (Maintenance -> Firmware)

I did try the firmware update from the VC and the message is there is no newer version. (see attached screen).

I am interested in finding out if I can run ArubaOS 8.x on my system.

You will need to download this from the support site. ArubaOS 8 cannot be installed on the Aruba Instant product line.

I did see on the Aruba site this info on ArubaOS 6.5

Yes, however unfortunately support for all 11n Access Points has been  dropped from the 6.5.x code so at the moment the IAP105 will run 6.4 versions of code.

Just to clarify, the AP-105 is still supported on all active AOS software versions. However, for Instant software, the IAP-105 has been "parked" on version 4.2.
