We've been able to make the clients make better decisions in our controller environments, so the new feature is only minimally interesting to me there.

In our virtual-controller environments however, we've have trouble with our clients to a much greater degree.

Yesterday we cut from our outgoing gear (4 half-power, non-WIFI Alliance "controller" based APs) to 12 iAP 104/105 at one store and have "much worse" coverage as our personnel put it.

The bar-code scanning guns latch on to the first iAP they see and can still see it just well enough that they aren't roaming as they move through the store.

We're trying to figure out how to make them roam sooner, but it would be nifty if the iAP cluster would help us.

What is the band supported on those devices ?

Make sure that ARM / Power is not set too high that devices are still hearing the IAP at a very long distance

ClientMatch is coming to Instant soon.  However, in your settings you can make sure that

    - low transmit/basic rates aren't set

    - probe threshold is set

    - band steering, spectrum load balancing enabled

We've got a template which seems to work accaptably at 47 other locations -- our stores are fairly cookie-cutter so we expect this template to work nearly everywhere.

This store is shallower and wider than any other and we get better visibility left-to-right than we're expecting.

I'd prefer not to change the template just for one store if we don't have to. Adding client-match would be cool at more than just this site.
