Connect RAP109 or IAP105 to RAP155?

I'll admit it. I'm a noob with gear that is over my head. But I'm trying to learn more and I've reached an impasse.

I have a RAP-155 up and functioning. I have a single SSID currently (WPA2-Personal), and I have it connected to my broadband modem from my cable provider.  That whole setup is working just the way I would like it.

Now - I also have a RAP109 that I would like to attach via CAT5 to one of the PoE ports on the 155 and use it to extend access to another part of the building.  I also have an IAP105 that I would like to do the same.  However, it seems that no amount of fiddling with settings on the 155, or trying different ports on the 155, or cables between the 155 and the 109 or 105, can make the 10x APs light up and connect to the 155.

I'm sure I'm missing some fundamental step here - I'm hoping someone out there is willing to tell me what that is!

    Thanks,

All of the Instants need to share a subnet for them to join.

Is the cable modem providing DHCP?

Yes, the cable modem is providing DHCP.

.  I considered turing off DHCP on the cable modem and having the RAP155 do DHCP but haven't done that yet.  Is that step one?

Does the cable modem have multiple switchports?

Yes.  3 empty switch ports currently. (Not PoE of course...)

You should plug the Instant APs into those switchports so that they're on the same VLAN.

But, like I said, those switchports on the cable modem aren't PoE.

If I want to use the PoE ports on the 155 (which is a 155P) to power the new APs, can I accomplish that by moving DHCP to from the cable modem to the 155?

Okay - well I honestly don't know what I did, but after dozens of times plugging the IAP into the RAP155 and having it NOT light up, it finally lit up.  Now I've got it connected, configured and splitting my load.  Thanks.

    I have a similar issue.

My ISP modem connected to port 0/0 on RAP-155P (only one port on the modem and it can only provide 1 IP address via DHCP).

I use the RAP-155P in Instant mode to act as a home wireless router also with a 24ports PoE switch connected to port 0/4.

I tried to connect an IAP-105 to the 24 port switch and to one of the other available port on the RAP-155 without success. The IAP-105 come up as it's own instance of Virtual Controller and doesn'T show up as an AP in the RAP-155 Virtual Controller.

    IAP-105 have been factory reset.

Both IAP-105 and RAP-155P are to the same code level (6.4.2.6-4.1.3.0_54915).

Both are RW (Rest-of-World) version so regulatory compliance should not be the issue here.

My Local SE suggested me to tag the port that connect to ISP as an uplink port. I did it from the wired port config and also from the System, advanced option, uplink tab under Management I selected Ethernet as Enforce uplink.

    Still doesn't work...

Any idea of something I miss or did wrong?
