I have a 650-US controller ArubaOS version 6.2.1.4 and 6 IAP-105s version 6.2.1.0-3.4.0.3_40346.  I want to convert one of my APs to a CAP to make sure that my configuration on the 650 controller is setup properly, and then convert the rest of the IAPS.  When I run "convert-aos-ap" in the command line (putty into IAP), the AP does not convert and I get the following system logs.

    Nov 6 09:48:55 cli[1028]: <341098> <WARN> |AP d8:c7:c8:ca:f7:8b IAP04@10.10.10.50 cli| recv_convert_ap: Convert AP url-, mode-0, master-10.10.10.45.
    Nov 6 09:48:55 cli[1028]: <341093> <ERRS> |AP d8:c7:c8:ca:f7:8b IAP04@10.10.10.50 cli| recv_image_upgrade_urls: 933: required class 10 not found in payload.
    Nov 6 09:48:55 cli[1028]: <341093> <ERRS> |AP d8:c7:c8:ca:f7:8b IAP04@10.10.10.50 cli| recv_image_upgrade_urls: 933: required class 15 not found in payload.
    Nov 6 09:48:55 cli[1028]: <341093> <ERRS> |AP d8:c7:c8:ca:f7:8b IAP04@10.10.10.50 cli| recv_image_upgrade_urls: 933: required class 26 not found in payload.
    Nov 6 09:48:55 cli[1028]: <341093> <ERRS> |AP d8:c7:c8:ca:f7:8b IAP04@10.10.10.50 cli| recv_image_upgrade_urls: 933: required class 23 not found in payload.
    Nov 6 09:48:55 cli[1028]: <341095> <ERRS> |AP d8:c7:c8:ca:f7:8b IAP04@10.10.10.50 cli| recv_image_upgrade_urls: url is NULL!.

I do not know why this is happening.  I looked up the errors 341093 and 341095 and all they say is that the AP is upgrading. Does anyone have some insight on why this would not be working?

Do you see the same issues from the GUI Maintenance > Convert  ?

What IAPOS you are running ?

And What AOS are you running on your controller ?

    Hi,

I have two questions which might help us narrow this down:

    1.  Did you use the 'cap' or 'rap' option when executing convert-aos-ap command?

    2.  Are the IAP105 also the US model?

    Thanks

Yan Liu: I used convert-aos-ap CAP <ip address of controller>. And yes i am using IAP US, It says "virtual-controller-country US" in the maintanance->configuration.

assuming your controller is licensed to take the inbound AP's? I've not see that specific error message before myself. When I get back in lab tomorrow, can try this on those code specific versions you cited.

    OK thanks,

Yes I do have license for 8 APs. My situation is that I do not want to use the gui convert method because it will convert all my IAPs at once.  I do not want my wireless to be down if something goes wrong, that is why I am just wanting to convert one of my six.  I want to test out my new configurations on the 650 controller before I convert the rest of my IAPs.

Have you tried converting that AP to standalone mode, and then converting it to campus AP?

No, I have not tried that. Do you recommend doing that?

I saw this issue on 205's when I had 3 initially booted up and one elected itself to the master controller.  When I attempted to convert them while ssh'd in (not to the elected master) I received the error message seen in this post.  I was able to convert without error using the web interface which converted all 3.  If you have multiple to convert the web interface will autoredirect to the master ip and would be a better option.  If you are only converting 1 at a time then switching to standalone and then to campus would work as previously posted.

Just throwing this on here as I came across this in search of a solution and figured I would add on my findings.
