Have two new locations with new IAP-105 clusters with their own VC. Both sites are showing same client connection issues. 105's have the latest Instant code. Seems like the SSID is dropping out even when the signal is -45.

have you tried another device? if you can isolate it to the scanners you got some more info to go on.

do you have IAP clusters that do work with these scanners? can the wireless drivers of the scanners be upgraded?

if you do some searching for your issue, device type X doesn't work with ... then you will find some possible steps to take.

So currently we tried downgrading code to 6.3 and lowering transmit power on ARM from 15 min 18 max and there is not as many dropped packets when roaming! Going to try the newest code next.

What is happening is the motorola MC 9190 is roaming to another AP that is not preferred. Also the dropped packets/ retransmits are @ 45% when on current code and ARM 18 min 21 max transmit power

I have found with these scanners that things improve greatly if the power settings (on the scanner settings) are set to 'always on' instead of power-save.

Let us know if that helps you.

I have an employee that has advised me that the Motorola MC9190 scanners work better on the A band and have less dropped packets. He had a similar situation on another vendors AP's also. Trying this fix next week. Hoping end customer is willing to make the A band move!

We have quite a few of those scanners and quite a few iAP (105 mostly) and have seen the same thing. I'll second the motion to move to A. It's not about the band precisely, it's the signal strength:

The Motorola makes a poor roaming decision when it can still "hear" the distant AP.

Changing bands or considerably limiting max power levels both work, but the reduced max will negatively affect any other devices - especially those with lower power radios.
