How to prevent a wireless bridge becoming the VC?

    Dear all,

I have some sites running instant access points running with a VC.
In some of these sites I also use wireless instant bridges.

Now I saw that sometimes the VC is located on the wireless bridge.

From my point of view that is the worst case.

Is there a possibility to configure something like a priority on the IAPs to be sure a LAN connected IAP is always the VC?

Because I use templates via the Airwave to configure the IAPs I'm not sure if this is possible.

    Thanks a lot!

You can select a preferred master :

I suggest that you pick an unused IP address on the segment assign that to be your VC address under System that way you can reach you cluster even if the master goes down

    Thank you very much!

That could be a solution for me. I will update my IAPs to version 4.0 in the next time.

Also it should not be possible for an IAP without a LAN connection (i.e., a mesh point) to become the master, even if there is no preferred master configured.  If you observe mesh points becoming master, I recommend opening a support ticket with TAC so this issue can be debugged.

    Thanks,

I checked that double in my test lab and you are right. The mesh point is not the VC.

    Thank you very much!
