I have to decide between IAP 93 and IAP 105 for a small office of about 15 users.
Does 93 not work with new and old laptops at the same time? Is 105 future ready and 93 not?
The applications to be used are websites with both text and multimedia.
    Please advise urgently.

The only difference is that the AP105 is dual band capable of 2.4 & 5 GHz at the same.

The AP93 is capable of both, but only one band at a time.

    to summrize:

    • AP93 - or 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz (Up to 300Mbps)
    • AP105 - 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz (Up to 600Mbps)

    • AP93 - limited to 16 instants per VC
    • AP105 - not limited (recommnded up to 64 instants per VC)

both got 1000/100/10 eth port - both support poe (802.3af)

Most new laptops/devices supporint 2.4 & 5  - i will advise u to buy iAP-105. (you will gain the ability to work on 2.4 & 5 in the same time)

Both of them will work as per your requirement but as Asa suggested and keeping in view the future requirement you should to for 105. But it depend upon budget as well. If you have budget available you should go for 105

I realize budgets are often an issue, but I would recommend you  consider the IAP-115 if possible.   Sure, it is priced higher than the IAP-105 but is a 3x3:3 AP and provides superior rate/range and throughput performance is typically much better than the 105; especially with higher client counts..   The IAP-105 (although a very capable platform) is also beginning to show its age (the design is about 4+ years old).    The 105 is susceptible to lose some advanced functionality as newer versions of code are released.  The more advanced features typically require more memory/processing power than the 105 can handle....especally in an IAP environment where the AP is doing the heavy lifting, not a controller.

    Hi,

For small office you can consider RAP109. It is less expensive than IAP105. Personally I would avoid IAP9x in my deployments. You can wait a little for IAP-103. AP-103 has been just released so Instant version should be available within 2-3 months I guess.

    Many regards,

Good tip - but be aware that the RAP109 deployment should be on table on shelf only (it's got plastic leg)

I stil prefer the iAP105 - it will be very cost effective for your client(and because it dual band it will give your client  the ability to utilze the AP in the up comfing future with very good performence for the amount of devices you wrote in your first post)

Sure, but first you can install it  wherever you want wth optional MNT. Second, you can use RAP-108 with ANT1/20 and ceiling monut.

Thanks to all of you for your help with my question. Considering the budget, I wanted to go for IAP-93, but then based on my understanding from the responses the computers with capability of accessing only 2.4 band won't be able to connect if a new computer has already connected itself on the 5 band; as both bands won't work together - right?
On another note, could I deploy both IAP-93 and IAP-105, one each?

    Hi,

IAP-9x is dual band single radio, so you can use only one band. IAP-105 or suggested RAP-10x are dual band dual radio devices. You can deploy any mix of IAPs/RAPs(Instant) in the same network however when there is a single IAP-9x series, the maximum number of IAPs is reduced to 16.

COnsidering if you are getting IAP93, with the same price go for IAP103 whcih will be out in the next 1 to 2 months.
