Controllerless Networks

Hi,

We are having an issue with an IAP 205 which will not convert to CAP.

Tried both CLI and from gui, tried factory reset using the reset button or from CLI, non worked.  When we convert it says it will reboot after obtaining the information from the controller but it just hang there, after a very long time it reboot itself and goes back into the instant mode with default ssid of "instant" and it is going around the circle.  We had four brand new IAP's to convert, the other three converted without any issues, but this particular one is giving us a problem.  All four were on the same firmware level.

Any tips on where to check please :)

Hi,

• make sure there are no firewall blocking between IAP and controller network. try installing IAP on the same network of the controller.
• what is the OS of the controller, AP 205 requires minimum Aruba OS  6.4.1.0

Thanks for the reply,

There is no firewall and the IAP and the controller are in the same subnet. 

The controller is 6.4.4.9, and the IAP is 6.4.2.6.

What is strange is that the other three AP's converted without issues. 

For the last step, try to factory_reset the AP:

- connect console 

- power up AP, wait 2 second until "Press enter to abort" . Press ENTER

- default username and password should be "admin"

- #factory_reset (enter),

If that trick doesnt help, I suggest RMA the device.

Yes already done that and it didnt work.  tried that and also using a pin on reset button, which I believe does the same thing anyway.

so RMA it is?

Try to capture the output from ssh when AP is restarted/converted.. might have some info to solve your case.

Otherwise, yup... it is from the same batch, with same steps...(same cable/port ?).
