    my senareo :

i was on demo with IAP 93 and it cant work for first time until it get IP address from the network ,the client didnot use DHCP on his network so

1-can i configure some IAP in network with out using DHCP of network and DHCP of IAP Cluster ?

say i have 8 IAP , can i give every one of them static ip address only ?

Hi your question is to have the IAP management IP to be static, if yes it can be done. I use DHCP first and once they are online, convert them to static according to your requirement.

what if i have to configure 8 IAP on a new network and no DHCP on SW ,so to give every IAP Static IP and not need to run DHCP on IAP

does i must have DHCP on network ?

Does IAP have DHCP Server ?

i worked on IAP 93 and i cant give ip to AP and i cant open dhcp pool from the IAP ?

all my client need is to give every IAP static ip address and the user will get static ip address

    thanks for your help

    Hi

Each answer is written in RED.

    • does i must have DHCP on network ?

no - if the first instantAP unit u deploy will not get a DHCP , it will use internal static ip (connect a console - and u will see the address)

But , it much faster and easier to use vlan with DHCP on it. (if u dont got DHCP on that SW - u may use you LAPTOP as a DHCP server just for the provisiong time - use tftpd , here is a guide on how to configure tftpd to be a DHCP server - very simple:

    http://www.tricksguide.com/how-to-setup-a-tftp-server-tftpd32-windows.html

    • Does IAP have DHCP Server ?

    yes , it does.

    Why u cant? sure u can :)

    Hi,

you can give a static IP address to your IAP by stopping the boot process from CLI interface and doing this commands:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    # setenv ipaddr <IAP IP>

    # setenv netmask <IAP NETMASK>

    # setenv gatewayip <IAP DEFAULT GATEWAY>

    # save

    # reset

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The simple way is always the fastest way :)
M.gallina method is fast and will give u the ability to start and use your VC as a Dhcp server for the rest of the AP that in the same segment.
