IAP105 & Windows7: Cannot connect by 11n when enabling "SSID Hide" on

I have to enable a 11n access within a SSID Hidden mode.

But it doesn't work in a particular cirumstance, and it could only connect by 11a.

IAP product: IAP-105

IAP Version:3.0.0.1

Wireless Chip:Ralink RT2870 (USB Adapter type)

Chip Driver:3.2.9.0

First, I tried it In SSID Hidden mode.

-When I tried it on a Windows XP desktop, It works well. I could get a 11n 300Mbps access.

-When I tried it on a Windows 7 desktop, I could only get a 11a 54Mbps access.

Secondly, I tried it In SSID Not Hidden mode.

-When I tried it on a Windows XP desktop, It works well. I could get a 11n 300Mbps access.

-When I tried it on a Windows 7 desktop, It works well. I could get a 11n 300Mbps access.

Then,I tried it in a cotroller based circumstance. It is consisted with Aruba 650 and AP-105

-Either the desktops' OS is XP or 7and either the SSID mode is Hidden or Not Hidden,

It works well. I could get a 11n 300Mbps access.

I tried these by a windows wireless utility and also by a Chipset vendors' utility,

but the consequence was the same.

So, this seems to be a combination problem between IAP, RT2870 and Windows7, as when I

tried the same in a Laptop with Intel WiFI Chip set, it worked well.

What I am concerned is why the result differs between an IAP circumstance and a Controller

based circumstance.

Has anyone been faced to a same trouble?  I wish someone could give me an help to solve

this problem.

Regards,

What encryption are you using, if any, on that wireless network?

Thank you for your reply cjoseph.

I am using WPA2-Enterprise(AES) for encryption.

Are you sure that none of those devices are using TKIP?

To find out type this on the commandline:

"show dot1x supplicant-info list-all "

Re: IAP105 & Windows7: Cannot connect by 11n when enabling "SSID Hide" on

I'm sure. Cause once I was trying it by TKIP, and found it worthless.

Nevetheless, I'll try that comand and would post the results.

Re: IAP105 & Windows7: Cannot connect by 11n when enabling "SSID Hide" on

I have tried the command "show dot1x supplicant-info list-all " , but it seems that it doesnt exist as a command for IAPs.

Nevertheless, I saw the command working on an Aruba 650. And saw the cleint trying to connect by wpa2-AES.

For an IAP, I confirmed the "show running config" and saw the opmode as wpa2-AES

My fault.  I did not see IAP.

Please make sure that your Advanced Client properties is not limiting them to 54 megs.

If that does not work, please open a support case.
