    What is the difference between l2 and l3 mobility?

    In short, L2 mobility is roaming between two access points on the same VLAN without having to re-dhcp.  L3 mobility is usually roaming between two controllers and maintaining your ip address and sessions without having to re-dhcp.

    L2 Vlan mobility happens pretty much automatically in the Aruba controller.  You can roam from access point to access point and keep your ip address.

    L3 Vlan mobility needs to be setup so that a user can maintain an ip address between two controllers even though the second controller does not have the user's VLAN defined on it.

     

    Both of these methods use a single VLAN.
