I've been digging into this thing and I'd really like to enable MAC filtering simply as another layer of security. However, it's starting to look like it's not possible in Standalone mode. Can anyone confirm, or point me in the right direction on how to configure this correctly for mac filtering in standalone mode?

    Thanks!

Are you using it in instant mode ?

If you do then you should be able to

Yes, it's in instant mode. Can you please walk me through how to create a MAC filtering list? The understanding I'm getting is that it looks like you can't do it in standalone mode. Everything I've read sounds like mac filtering has to be done on the controller.

    Please advise.

    Perfect! Thank you very much!

On another note, I wonder why it recommends against using MAC filtering. Any thoughts?

It's a false sense of security.

If security is the goal, you should move to 802.1X and leave MAC-auth for "dumb" devices like printers, media players, etc.

It may be a false sense of security if this is the only form of security used. I'm using it simply as another layer of security.

    Thanks for the help though.

Don't listen to anyone who says MAC filtering isnt a good solution...

We tried everything here until finally implimented MAC filtering and its made the world of difference. It gives you so much control and has been bullet proof so far in terms of security.

It has worked very well here.
