What is the difference between the tunnel value and the other value in the product line matrix?

Hi all,

I have a quick question about the max. number of associated clients per radio on an IAP115. According to the product line matrix (http://www.arubanetworks.com/pdf/products/MAT_AP.pdf) it is specified as 255 for a "tunnel" option and 110 for "other".

What do the "tunnel" and "other" options stand for?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

It means, when you bringup a SSID in tunnel mode (tunnel) and other means, other than tunnel mode, bridge mode, decrypt tunnel mode.

here the difference is because of the termination, in tunnel mode whole client traffic (wireless) traffic will hit the controller and processed by the controller hence AP will not take any process load and other modes (bridge and decrypt ) AP will receive the data and decrypt and convert the traffic into wired (802.3) and forward it to the uplinked device.

Hence in tunnel mode AP can handle more clients that other modes.

hope got some clarity,

Please feel free for any further query on this.

Cheers,
Venu Puduchery,
