helpdesk tools

Our helpdesk gets lots of calls like this:

Student: My wireless is slow.
Helpdesk: Ok, what ESSID and access point are you connected to?
Student: Huh?

So I wrote a cgi called mywifi, that displays and logs, a bunch of information about a client's connection. The helpdesk tells them to browse to the link, and then either asks them for data, or looks at the log to see what what's going on. If it's especially wierd, they kick it up to network support, who can look at the log to see what the user was getting at the time.

I'd appreciate suggestions for improving it.

Here's a link to the perl code. It'll need to be slightly customized to your institution (names, allowed ip addresses, etc).

Doke,

Any screenshots of that, or perhaps a video?

Re: helpdesk tools

Excellent! Maybe too much info for end users, but that can be tweaked...
