    Hello all,

I'm reaching out here, as it's not so much a clearpass problem but more of a overall design problem I've been wrestling.  So we all have students who like to bring their gaming consoles to school, and they of course want to game online, which it appears most require upnp for this.  And there in lies my problem.  No respectable corporate firewall is going to support it, so what do I do next?

So.....I've brought up a PfSense firewall, two interfaces, one public, one sitting on the vlan which has all our gamers on it.  I configure upnp, and NAT to allow both to pass freely.  It seems to work on and off, but never fully, and seems to fail when load picks up.

So.....how do you support your students gaming/upnp needs?

    Thanks,

    Scott

Game systems don't support enterprise NAT very well. The easiest solution is
to give game consoles public IPs if possible.

I would love to do that, however I'm not sure we have enough IP space available for that.  It's something we may have to consider though.

I know it's not much help, but we use all public IP addresses for host devices.
