How to create a virtual interface for Airwave?

Aruba Employee
Requirement:

virtual network interface (VIF) is an abstract virtualized representation of a server network interface that may or may not correspond directly to a network controller interface.

Solution:

The directory responsible for permanent IP address assignment is /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts. In this directory you need to create a file corresponding to your new virtual interface.

Configuration:

Please execute the following command to create the same:

#vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0:0

· In this file we need to enter the following values:

DEVICE=eth0:0

IPADDR=<Second IP address>

NETMASK=<Corresponding Subnet Mask>

NETWORK=<Corresponding Network IP>

BROADCAST=<Broadcast Address for the network>

ONBOOT=yes

· Once the changes are saved, Please execute the following command to restart the interface:

#service network restart

Verification

Execute the command ifconfig from the cli and you can verify if the virtual interface has been added to or not.
