Import Aruba controller floor plan data (CGI file) into VisualRF

Aruba Employee

Aruba controllers can generate a CGI file with floor plan data that can then be imported into VisualRF (available in AWMS 6.1).

(see also related link below)

To generate the CGI file, in the Aruba controller web UI go to the Plan tab
From the Campus List click on the desired campus
On the next screen check the desired building and click <Export>
Do you want to include background images? <OK>
Save the file wms.cgi (rename later if desired)

In an IE7 browser (this doesn't work on Firefox yet) go to the AMP web UI and edit the AMP's URL, appending the string below and ENTER...

/visualrf/aos_migration

e.g. https://amp.mydomain.com/visualrf/aos_migration

A page allowing you to specify a file should appear.
Browse for the CGI file you just created then <Upload>
You'll see a log printout. When the processing is "Done", click on the <Validate> link at the top of the page.

[The current implementation does not import "planned" APs, only "provisioned" APs.]

Click <Override>

A text printout representing the imported floor plans appears.

Edit the AMP's URL again, this time stripping off anything after the hostname, ENTER.
Go to the VisualRF tab and select the Floor Plans sub-tab
You should see the imported floor plans and be able to select and display them
