Only seeing 4GB of total memory after upgrade to CentOS 5; PAE kernel not installed?

1. Check to see if PAE kernel is installed.

# gr kernel
kernel-headers-2.6.18-128.1.6.el5
kernel-PAE-2.6.18-128.1.6.el5
kernel-2.6.18-128.1.6.el5

2. Make sure the system is booting using the PAE kernel.
You should see the default set to 0 and the config pointing to the PAE kernel.

# vi /etc/grub.conf

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
default=0
timeout=5
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu
title CentOS (2.6.18-128.1.6.el5PAE)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.1.6.el5PAE ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 ide=nodma
initrd /initrd-2.6.18-128.1.6.el5PAE.img
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Reboot the server.

# reboot

Note: If the reboot does not succeed, try cycling power and entering interactive mode (i) to get around the problem.
