Monitoring, Management & Location Tracking

Redundant (Standby; Active / Backup) Aruba Master Controller displayed as Local on Monitor page

We have a Redundant Aruba Master Controller setup --where a Backup Master controller is specified as a failover if the Active Master goes Down. On the Monitor page for the controller the Controller Role is being reported as Local rather than Master. Why is this?

As of AWMS 6.2 we haven't fully implemented support for Master Controller standby mode. Currently we check what the controller reports as the IP address of its Master Controller. If this address is the loopback IP (127.0.0.1), we mark it as a Master. If it reports some other address, we mark it as a Local. The Active and Backup Masters report the Virtual Master IP address rather than the loopback address, so they are marked as Local.

Before AWMS 6.2 the loopback IP (127.0.0.1) is displayed next to the Master Controller field. In AWMS 6.2 the Virtual Master IP address is displayed next to the Master Controller field.

This feature will be fully supported in a future release.
