Schedule an IAP upgrade using Airwave

Apr 08, 2015 07:28 AM

IAPs can be upgraded using Airwave. Airwave provides you with a flexibility to schedule an upgrade.

Environment : The KB holds true for IAPs being managed by Airwave. We have tested the behavior on 8.0.4.1 of Airwave.

There are 2 ways with which one can schedule an upgrade

I) Transfer the file immediately and schedule reboot later

  • Go to the manage page for the VC that requires an upgrade and click on Update firmware.
  • Select the desired version and set Reboot now to No as shown in the screenshot below

  • Enter the desired Reboot Date/Time in the formats shown in the screenshot and click on upgrade
  • After hitting apply changes, you will be taken to System > Firmware Upgrade Job Detail page
  • You will see the Devices selected will be under the section "Devices being upgraded" and will move to "In Progress" post which it will say "Scheduled Reboot"

  • This indicates that the image file has been transferred to the IAP and the device is ready to reboot at the scheduled time set
  • You can confirm that the backup partition build version on IAP has the new image file using "show image version" if you have access to the IAP

II) Schedule the entire process (File Transfer + Reboot) later

  • Go to the manage page for the VC that requires an upgrade and click on Update firmware.
  • Select the desired version and click on Upgrade button at the bottom which provides you a window with scheduling options as shown in the screenshot below
