Telnet Error: RSA modulus too small

Jun 09, 2014 12:14 PM

Q: For an IOS AP, AMP shows a Telnet Error. When I manually telnet from AMP to the AP I get an error that says:

"ssh_rsa_verify: RSA modulus too small: 512 < minimum 768 bits".

A: In the IOS config, you can define the size of the RSA keys that secure the server, and AMP's SSH package has a minimum required size. The size of the key on your APs has to be increased to at least 768. It's pretty easy to do. Here's the command to increase it to 1024 from the cli:

crypto key generate rsa general-keys modulus 1024.

Or if you want to do it from the web interface, you could do that on the Services -> Telnet/SSH page.
