Q. Can I put variables like the hostname in my IOS Templates?

A. Cisco provides a way to use some variables natively:

$(hostname)
$(domain)
$(line)
$(line-desc)

So you could do something like this in your template:

! 
banner motd ^C

You are logged on to Cisco Access Point $(hostname)

Unauthorized access is prohibited!

^C
