Why does AMP require root access to the server?

AMP requires root access for installing patches and upgrades for several reasons:

* AMP modifies several system configuration files to control critical services
* Many services operated by AMP needs access to ports below 1024, which requires root access
* There is no way to perform upgrades and load patches through the web interface
