Why has AMP not contacted my router/switch for x hours when ARP / Bridge Forwarding poll period is set to y?

Jun 27, 2014 08:19 PM

Question: Why has AMP not contacted my router/switch for x hours when ARP / Bridge Forwarding poll period is set to y?

On the Monitor page for my router/switch I see that the "Last contacted" time is several hours (days) ago. On the Groups > Basic page for the group containing my routers and switches I have the ARP Table and Bridge Forwarding Table polling periods set to 1 hour.

What's going on?

SOLUTION:
Check the Up/Down polling period on the same Groups > Basic page. If Up/Down polling is disabled, ALL polling for that group will be disabled, including polling of the ARP table and Bridge Forwarding Table.

NOTE: This will also affect wired-side discovery of rogue devices in RAPIDS.
