AMP 8.0.4 mysteries

We need the following 3 questions answered in regards to AMPs new code version 8.0.4:

We had seen documentation stating, “AWS 8.0.x supports Motorola Wing5 RFS controllers and 6532, 6522 and 6521 APs”.  However, in the Device Setup à Add tab, the drop-down list only shows WiAP200 and 200M.  Can we add and monitor RFS-6000 series controllers?  If so, what are the steps needed to do this.  If not, then please explain why and when this feature will be available?

We would like more frequent polling from AMP to 2 x 7220 local controllers in the same subnet.  We currently prefer SNMP polling, but I discovered the setting:  ‘Prefer AMON vs SNMP polling’.  What are all the pros and cons of setting this to yes or no (preferring AMON or preferring SNMP)?

We would like more frequent polling from AMP to 2 x 7220 local controllers in the same subnet.  Specifically, we want to display all client associations more accurately.  If a client associates to 2 or more APs within one or two minutes, we want to see each association.  In the groups à Basic tab for each group, we currently have not changed any of the defaults under the SNMP polling periods.  Given all of this information, can you give us suggestions on exact minutes to set all the polling periods in order to achieve our goals and not see any negative impacts?  In other words, which polling periods can we lower and what can we safely lower these polling periods to?

1.  Please contact support to get a definitive answer on the Motorola question.

2.  You should enable AMON to get client an AP information more frequently than 5 minutes.  SNMP is limited to polling only as frequent as 5 minutes or greater within Airwave.  http://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Community-Tribal-Knowledge-Base/Why-you-should-always-enable-AMON-on-your-Aruba-Controller-when/ta-p/72104

3.  Do not enable "Prefer AMON" in the Airwave settings....  Just turn on AMON on your controllers like the article mentions so that you can get the blended information, but more frequently than every 5 minutes.

Colin,

why not enable "prefer AMON" in the airwave settings? Just curious to what it does. We just enabled it at a customer location and certain parameters stopped being reported.

Re: AMP 8.0.4 mysteries

Some combinations of recent AirWave and recent ArubaOS breaks "Prefer AMON"

pretty horribly.  You get wacky stats that don't make sense at all.  This is a known

issue and is expected to get fixed eventually.

For #1, if you want to monitor Wing 5.x, you can easily add the RFS 6000 to Airwave, it will discover the APs attached to it.

You cannot add Wing 5.x Thick APs such as the 6522 in thick mode.

It should be pretty simple to set up a controller in Airwave for motorola

Thanks for the replies to the first 2 questions.  Can anyone help with my last question regarding polling (copy/pasted here):
