    Hello

We are looking at deploying AirWave to manage a growing wireless deployment, and have chosen the Airwave 500, which fits our needs. However, I cannot see any details on the server specifications required to install this on.

Can anyone direct me to where I can find this information plase?

    Many thanks

    Regards

    Shaun

No problem.  One thing to note is that the hardware guide is a generalized guide based on various customer deployments, and works for most office deployments.  There's some performance tuning for any particular deployment which you can get added details from support.

Some of the big picture questions to ask as you plan:

    - What is the type of deployment? (corp office, small office, school, university, hospital, airport, hot spot, etc)

    - How many clients?  Are these going to be unique clients daily (hot spot / airport)?  Or same clients (office / school)?

    - How many floor plans for VisualRF?

    - How many switches will be monitored (for RAPIDS)?  These are included in licensed device count.

    - What amount of devices you expect to add in the future?

    - Is this server going to be a VM? (if so, increase server size by at least 20%)  Will the VM share resources with additional instances?

    - Duration of data retention on the server itself?

Many of these questions help directly guide memory and disk space allocation, while others are questions a Sales Engineer would ask to help plan out the deployment.

Not sure if anyone is still following this.  We currently have less than 1000 devices and our server is pegging 64G RAM.  We purchased a Dell 720P with 24 hard drive bays.  We have that full of 15K disks.  Iops seem a little higher than expected, but the memory use is much higher.  We're considering putting in another 64G to see if performance improves.  Any thoughts?

Our installations are quite-likely somewhat different from each other, but as a reference:

    We've got 1177 devices, 1120 clients and 145 floorplans

running in a VM with 8 Xenon cores and 48G of RAM with the following CPU use:

    Capture.PNG

You might want TAC to take a look at your utilization and see if there isn't something amiss.
