Looking for design requirements for Airwave in a VM deployment.  Looking at 2,000 to 2,500 hardware devices with average client count upwards of 3,000 to 5,000 clients at any given time.

 

VM guldlines for memeory requirements, processors, etc...

You likely want to spec similar to the AW-HW-ENT

Please keep in mind that Airwave is disk I/O intensive so make sure to provision 20% above what Tim is recommending, my personal experience with Airwave's running on a VM have not been good.

Most likely because whoever provisioned them didn't know how to configure VMWare properly.

The sizing guide unfortunately does not take into account number of clients and how much data will Airwave will be seeing, it is based of number of devices.

How do you handle/adjust sizing if the total client count is 500 for example. The sizing guide specifies either "1500" or "4000". Do I just divide the hard disk space and memory...then add the 20% because it will run on a VM?

I have used the AirWave Server Sizing Calculator at https://ase.arubanetworks.com/solutions/id/77 and these are the values for a virtualized environment:

 

Your AirWave server recommended sizing:

* Recommended CPU PassMark score is 6271

* Recommended memory is 7GB

* Recommended disk IOPS capacity is 1374

* Recommended disk space is 110GB

 

However, it doesn't show number of CPUs or number of cores. Do I have to assume is 1 CPU with 1 core?
