Client MIMO statistics

    Hello,

is there a way to find how many (or which ones) client devices are using MIMO antennas?

Would be really good to see some statistics on 2x2, 3x3 etc.

Additionally, we can see how are the devices are connected at any given time (that we can see on controller/airwave), but this is affected by signal strength, if there are at an area with .11ac APs etc.

Is it possible to see statistics on their capabilities in supporting 40MHz or .11ac etc?

    Thanks

"show ap association" is the best command for that.

That could be a feature request actually...
Very useful to have a chart of these on airwave or on the controller, but also to have history or device capability not just current connections.

Thank you, show ap associations does show the bellow with the information I'm looking for, but only real-time.

    example:
    a-HT-40sgi-3ss
    a-HT-40sgi-2ss
    g-HT-20sgi-1ss

    Hi friend,

Along with "show AP association" you can use "show ap debug client-table ap-name <Name> to get above information, in this output you can get HT status, Tx chains (MIMO) used many other details.

    For your ref :

    Thanks again.

However, as a feature request the need is more related to statistics and planning, than just active connections or troubleshooting.

Statistics, graphs and matrixes on client capabilities (n/ac and MIMO), would help justify the need or define the best time, to upgrade from 11n APs to 11ac.

Airwave report can provide some information on Connection Mode and Channel BW (but not MIMO).

    New 'Client Inventory Report'

    > select summarize by: ' Last Connection Mode Summary'

    and also

    > Include details about every client: Yes
    > Clients:

    - Connection Mode
    - Ch BW

    and:

    > Limit to active devices: No (include all devices)

    Gem,

The problem with using it for upgrades is if you do not have 802.11ac access points, you will not know what clients are capable of 802.11ac, because they will never negotiate at those speeds/rates.  Just like if you only have 802.11a/b/g access points, you will not know what clients are capable of 802.11n or 802.11ac rates.  If you only have access points that are capable of 2 spatial streams, clients will never negotiate at more than that, and it will not be reported.

That's very true Colin, however we do have AP-225s in some Lecture theatres, libraries etc and most users will eventually visit these areas.

Of course I will agree that this can never be the only factor to base a decision for an upgrade. :)

How can we have options added on future airwave versions?

As we have summarize report by: Last Connection Mode Summary

could we also have summarize report by: Last Ch BW Summary

    Thanks again.

When you run the detailed client inventory report, you can sort by CH BW.
