Network Management

Hello All,

I am fairly new to Aruba switching, but I am getting the following message using Kiwi Syslog on several of my switches. There also appears to be some network congestion and I am wondering if the two could be related. The message is:

05-18-2016 08:45:47 Local1.Error 10.10.10.183 May 18 08:45:47 2016 10.10.10.183 stm[2502]: <304055> <ERRS> <10.10.10.183 18:64:72:CD:8A:36> |ap| Unexpected stm (Station management) runtime error at wifi_mgmt_recv_frame, 7392, wifi_mgmt_recv_frame:7392: NULL src-mac, frame type=0, subtype=15

This message is appearing every few seconds on the same handful of switches. It does not appear to be occurring on every one. 

I would tremendously appreciate any and all help, suggestions, comments, etc.

Which switch?  Which version of ArubaOS code?

Thanks for getting back with me. The models I have are AP 135, 224, 225. The current firmware is 6.4.2.3-4.1.1.3_48994. Apparently they are access points and not switches, as previously mentioned. Sorry about that. If there is anything else needed, please let me know.

I would update to the latest GA version of code.  4.1.1.3 is old and quite a few bugs have been fixed since then....http://support.arubanetworks.com/LifetimeWarrantySoftware/tabid/121/DMXModule/661/Default.aspx?EntryId=20388

A while back we tried to update and it crashed so we have not done anything since then. We actually had an Aruba tech on the line helping, but still had trouble. 

Aside from the update, do you have any other suggestions or reason why this might be happening? I don;t foresee being able to update any time soon.

4.1.1.3 had an issue with certificates, where it could not login to the cloud to update.  You should try it manually with a tftp or anonymous ftp server and the code on the page here:  http://support.arubanetworks.com/LifetimeWarrantySoftware/tabid/121/DMXModule/661/Default.aspx?EntryId=20388

I was finally able to apply the updates to all the APs. I needed to divide my WAN into several VLANS so that took some time. The updates really helped. There are far less error messages now.
