method to determine Ethernet speed of AP's?

  • 1.  method to determine Ethernet speed of AP's?

    I'm interested in searching for / exporting a list of AP's that are running at 100Mbps.  On my controllers I'm running v6.3.1.9, and Airwave is on v7.7.12.  Ideas?

    1. You can find out from the switches where APs are connected

    2. You can run following command on controller where APs are terminating:

              show ap debug system-status ap-name <ap-name> | begin "Speed Settings"

              Output:

              Ethernet Duplex/Speed Settings
              ------------------------------
              Autoneg Speed (Mbps) Duplex Iface
              ------------ -----------------   --------- -----
              on           1000                Full     eth0  <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
              on           10                    Half    eth1

    Unfortunately there's no way to dump a list out on the controller. As aalap22 said, your best bet is the upstream edge switches.

    Do you have your edge switches in Airwave? You may be able to get the speed there depending on the switch vendor.

    Thanks for the replies, folks.  At this time we don't have our edge switches in Airwave.  Some of our switches are old 3com (rebranded HP) with little management capabilities, and we intend to replace those with Aruba S1500's next summer.  We have six Aruba Mobility Access switches (S1500's and S2500's) in place, and I'll add them to Airwave in the near future and see if the option to filter by Ethernet speed exists there.

    On the Aruba switches, you can easily see which ports have access points on them (and see the AP name!) by running the "show neighbor-devices" command.

    Hi there!

    Found this post 'cause we have 2800 APs, bus > 280 APs running suboptimal ethernet (and mesh).

    Now it's about 6 Years ago.

    Is there any change in Airwave?
    Cannot trigger all 2000 Switches of different types (Comware 3-7 and Aruba).
    So best would be, the reports will show me all APs with 100MBit/s or less...

    Can Airwave 8.2.12.0 do this now? Firmware AP303 8.7.1.1

    You can run an Inventory Report with details about every device. There are columns for ethernet status in those details.

    Didn't worked much with reports, but had not found this option "Include details about every device: " earlier... Perfect reports are a little bit trickky, isn't it?

    Use mentioned-below steps to determine the Speed of Ethernet;

    1. Open Settings.
    2. Click on Network & Internet.
    3. Click on Status.
    4. Under the "Change your network settings" section, click the View your network properties option.
    5. Under the "Properties" section, find the network adapter (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
    6. Determine the connection speed in the Link speed (Receive/Transmit) field.
