QoS on RAP

Hi All,

Is there a possibility to configure QoS on a RemoteAP in a way that e.g. VoIP traffic gets its guaranteed bandwidth (e.g. 1 Mbps) and the rest traffic gets shaped according to the totally available bandwidth on the uplink?

I know that the RAP can mark the traffic through policies but I think this is not enough if a RAP is connected to a DSL modem which does not support QoS.

Thank you for your help in advance!

QOS on RAP

In ArubaOS 5.0 in the AP system profile, you can specify an ACL that has priority on RAPs. If you look at the bottom of the AP system profile, it is called "Remote AP BW Reservation". Enter the name of the ACL that you want prioritized and the priority (choose 1), and this will work. It ONLY works with split-tunneled or bridged SSIDs or ports.

Re: QoS on RAP

Thank you very much, Colin!

Is there somewhere a description of this feature? Is it supported on all APs incl. RAP2? Is it also working if all traffic goes through the tunnel on the split-tunnel SSID?

Just saw that it is described in the userguide. Still would be glad to hear about the other two questions. Thanks!

QOS on RAP

You are at the mercy of your provider with regards to QOS. The QOS setting that was described is to reserve bandwidth for a certain type of traffic to prioritize it over any other traffic that is going through the RAP. The feature is supported on all RAPs. It works with traffic going through the tunnel, as well.
