VIA Client Not Installing on Windows 7

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience installing the VIA client on Windows 7 machines, from ArubaOS 5.

It get's about three quarters of the way through the install, then quickly rollsback without an error.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

I've rebooted, ran it as an administrator, ran it in compatibility mode, and everything else I can think of. I know 7 is supported, so I'm not certain of the cause.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Krunchy,

That should 100% be working. Please open a case so that they can gather data.

Re: VIA Client Not Installing on Windows 7

I have it working on Windows 7, but remember that this only works on the 32-bit version of the OS, if you're running 64-bit it's not currently supported. As Colin said, if this restriction doesn't match your case I would open a support case.

Re: VIA Client Not Installing on Windows 7

Ah, I didn't see anything about no 64-bit support.

Interesting. I assume it will be added soon?

Thanks for the news!

Possible areas to check on if client does not get connected

Hi all,

Here's some details (checklist):
ArubaOS 5.0 set on controller
vpn pool set on controller
IKE PSK set on controller
username password set on controller
VIA client installed on win XP laptop

Using the VIA, I couldn't get connected to the controller.
Did I miss out anything?

Connected to Controller on Via

To connect to the controller, you need ports TCP 443 and UDP 4500 open from the outside in. Are you allowing these ports? If you are, what does the log on the VIA client say? There should be entries in red, if you cannot connect.

show log security <x>

I would type show log security to see what error you got. Did you configure a VPN pool? Has this ever worked?

Re: VIA Client Not Installing on Windows 7

Was part of a lab setup, and was sitting on the same subnet with the comuter, as the interface on the aruba was on. Scrappped that controller, and tested from the outside on a different lab controller and it works fine.

On this controller the VIA as VPN works just fine towards 172.16.0.254. If I try VIA client from a pc in same subnet it just won't come up, which I guess is only logical :)

anyway, it works now.
