usb-modeswitch setting in 5.0.2

So in 5.0.2 the usb-modeswitch setting was introduced (only in CMD) as an extra variable for 3G dongle support. What I'm wondering is how one would go about finding out the correct modeswitch settings for a dongle.

One dongle that requires the modeswitch setting right now is the Huawei e1750 which uses the setting "-v 12d1 -p 1446 -M 55534243123456780000000000000011060000000000000000000000000000". I have a couple of other 3G dongles not in the compatability list like the Huawei e182e that probably require a modeswitch setting as well, but I have no idea how I would find out what it is.

Thanks for whatever help anyone can provide with this.

Best approach

The best approach is to contact support.

They will need you to have an AP70 and a Y-cable so that they can look at the console output and determine what will make it work. There is also another method that requires an Aruba 650/651 so that they can query the modem. If it is a popular modem, it normally has been encountered and we probably have settings. If it is a newer modem, support could tell you if support has been provided, but the info did not make it up to the website, as yet.

Re: usb-modeswitch setting in 5.0.2

I do have an AP 70 and Y-cable so I'll contact support and see if they can help. Thanks!

Re: usb-modeswitch setting in 5.0.2

I am wondering if anyone has had luck with the Huawei e182e? These are the settings I've tried with no avail.

Re: usb-modeswitch setting in 5.0.2

FYI for anyone interested, these are the settings I got from Aruba support for the Huawei. I haven't had a chance to try them yet though, as it looks like we're moving to a Sierra stick anyway, but if anyone wants to try these feel free ;)
