One dongle that requires the modeswitch setting right now is the Huawei e1750 which uses the setting "-v 12d1 -p 1446 -M 55534243123456780000000000000011060000000000000000

They will need you to have an AP70 and a Y-cable so that they can look at the console output and determine what will make it work. There is also another method that requires an Aruba 650/651 so that they can query the modem. If it is a popular modem, it normally has been encountered and we probably have settings. If it is a newer modem, support could tell you if support has been provided, but the info did not make it up to the website, as yet.
