This is the first time i'm configuring captive portal in my network.

I tried the default captive portal page and this worked well.

 

I tried to modify the portal changing the background and putting a little text and this worked well.

 

Now I upload a basic html page (Aruba Hotel) like I see here in Airheads as a top level page of Captive Portal and now I have the error ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS on Chrome.

 

I saw many topics about redirect loop here, but I'm confused about to do.

Is it a bug of this version?

Usually too many redirects means that your role is not correct and does not have the server where the CP is held.

The CP server is the controller. Do you have a tip where do I configure it?

you just uploaded a different page to the controller? you didn't modify the rest of the configuration?

 

can you go back and make it work again with the default page?

 

if it works again have a look at the page you uploaded and perhaps share it here so we can see if everything is up with it.

 

if you changed the configuration then have a look at the following items

the pre-logon role is configurated in the aaa profile (Security > Authentication > Profiles; Initial role)

that role has an captive portal profile attached (Security > Access Control > User Roles; Captive Portal Profile)

the captive portal has a (different) post authentication role (Security > Authentication > L3 Authentication; Default Role)

First, we made a configuration of the captive portal with our needs and the default page of the controller.

It worked well. Our security team made a security analisys of this implementation and aproved it.

 

The second step is the customization of the page. 

We created a custom page based on the default page of Aruba. And the redirect loop appears.

We put a basic page we saw here http://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Command-of-the-Day/COTD-How-to-customize-the-Captive-Portal/td-p/15012 and the problem occurs again.

 

I revert to factory default settings and the captive portal is working.

i suspect that something is wrong with the page you use and that causes the redirect loop. but there is too little detail on what exactly you modify.

what did you modify? did you for example add pictures linked from an external source?

 

best way to trouble shoot is to modify step by step and see when the system fails. if you don't understand why it fails there please report back explains what exact modification caused this.

Ok.

I reset the captive portal to the default page of controller. It works fine, with the logo of Aruba.

 

I uploaded the page copied here "indexBCB.html" in the controller and choose the option:

After this, the redirect loop error appears.

 

 

only by uploading it and then going there it already causes the loop?

 

your page don't seem the include some basic html tags, is that because of this site? could you attach the full info in a text file to the forum?

when i visit that link i see the page like it should look, i can't see the html source for it.
