    Hi All

I'm looking at using the Clearpass Guest Device Database as an authentication source for our MAC auth devices (barcode scanners and dataloggers etc.) rather than a static host list. Can anyone tell me if doing this will use guest licenses as well as CPPM licenses, we have a limited number of guest licenses so would rather only use them for actual guests. I have read through loads of the posts on Clearpass licensing but couldn't find any reference to the device database.

And thanks to Tim Cappalli for the tip on using the Guest Device Database.

    Thanks

    Dave

No, device registrations do not consume guest licenses, only base
    authentication licenses.

Is it still true? I have a customer using Guest Device DB only, it seems the guest license is consumed. Anyone from Aruba can you please confirm? Thanks.

Yes it is true. You Need to make sure they are using the guest device db not the guest user db. If you are still having issues then please open a TAC case
