Eduroam installer redirect

    Hello there.

    We recently decided to opt for Eduroam as the main SSID for all students on campus.

    We still don't know in which direction to go and I was wondering if some of you are in an education environment using Eduroam as main SSID.

    for now here is our situation:

    As we absolutely want them to use the offcial installer, we have an open SSID that redirect them to https://cat.eduroam.org/

    The major issue we are facing is once they went through the installer, they are still on the open SSID so that said, whatever they do they will be redirected to the Eduroam website.

    Is there a way that we don't know to somehow redirect to the proper Eduroam SSID once the installation done ?

    (Also Clearpass is not an option for us at the moment)

    You would have to request for that feature to be added to CatTools. There is nothing on the infrastructure side that can force a client to switch networks. Also, if they are able to do it, it will likely only work with Windows and Android.

    Do you think we are on the right way or would you use a completely different solution?

    Are you seeing a lot of issues with people connecting? I've found most
    people are able to get on without any issues.



    Without ClearPass, you are likely limited to what you are doing now. You
    could put some text on the page that says something like "Seeing this again?
    Here's how to delete this temporary network and connect to eduroam".

    As it is now, it wasn't available, so hard to say. However we soon wil have 60 000+ students and we would like to make it as smooth as possible.

     

    I contacted the Eduroam team to see if they can modify the page for us but no answer yet .. it would be for sure the best to display a message like the one you are saying.

    They will have to rewrite the installer to remove the old network name and
    drop the network connection.

    Hi ,

    Just an update..

    so after few meeting with Eduroam and Canarie, we decided to give up.

    There are too many challenges to get a smooth installation
